Respiratory Pathophysiology, Complications and Interventions
Respiratory assessment is a vital component of caring for patients. Nurses of all practice levels (LPN’s, RN’s, and APN’s) need top-notch assessment skills to accurately diagnose and treat the various respiratory ailments that they will encounter. The respiratory system is complex and intriguing. Many nurses are intimidated by this system because of the potential to miss critical lung sounds. Incomplete or inaccurate assessments could potentially cost a patient his or her life. This course will provide you with the opportunity to broaden your knowledge base of normal and abnormal lung sounds, lung disease, complications of lung disease, and medications used to treat respiratory illness. You will also participate in interactive exercises to enhance your learning experience.
When you complete this course, you will understand the pathophysiology of underlying lung disease as well as recognize the potential complications that can arise. You will be able to apply a variety of current practice nursing interventions related to respiratory illnesses.
