(We know you want to start clicking things right away but you would really be better off to read this carefully first - maybe even print it out!)

AIRS, in partnership with Essential Learning, is pleased to provide access to online training for all its members and for everyone working within the world of I&R.

If you have a busy schedule and struggle to find the time or money to attend conferences and take courses to earn continuing education credits, then CE Quick AIRS is for you! You can take these courses at your own pace - and at the times most convenient to you and your workload.

AIRS has developed some initial I&R courses and will be providing additional courses on an ongoing basis. Other courses developed by Essential Learning cover a wider range of general organizational issues as well as specialized human services.

Each course provides concise, comprehensive and relevant information that will help participants improve their understanding and acquire new skills.

The important technical stuff that you will need is Explorer 5.0 or up and a system that is "Java enabled". If you have problems despite having those components, then it could be that your pop-up blocker needs to have this site added to its 'approved' list. Please be aware that there may be problems encountered by people with visual impairments who require text readers.

Here's how to find a course

On the bottom of the left hand column, there are buttons marked "Select an Accreditation" and "All Subjects". Within each of those drop-down menus is a choice called "AIRS Training" ... click on that choice in both boxes.

Then click "View Courses".

This reveals a list of courses. The ones developed by AIRS begin with the word "AIRS". The other ones have been assessed by the AIRS Training Committee.

Clicking on the course name will give you a few more details about the content. If you would like to take a course, mark the checkbox and then click the "Add courses to cart" button.

Then click the "View my Cart" choice on the right hand column. On the next page, mark the check box to confirm your choice (enter the discount code if you are an Enhanced or Premium Level AIRS member) and then click "Checkout". If you are not sure of your membership level or the discount code, contact Moayad Zahralddin of AIRS at moayadzahralddin@airs.org.

This leads you to the registration process. You will need a credit card!

After you make the payment, you will be returned to the "CE Site". Click the Login tab along the top line and enter the email address and password that you used during registration. You will then go to a "Thank you for Registering Page". For all of the 4 questions about licensing and such like, type N/A and then click "Submit".

You can now work your way through the course materials, including the final online test. For each subsequent course, you may login directly to make things easier. You may find the process a little tricky at first. Be patient. You will soon get the hang of it.

Many of the courses available from Essential Learning meet the requirements of accreditation for national organizations such as the National Board of Certified Counselors, in addition to certain state licensure boards. Please click on the "Select an Accreditation" button on the left hand side to learn more. Not all of these courses will be applicable to the work of most I&R practitioners but they may prove relevant to others within your organization.

You do not need to complete a course or pass its final test in a single session. You can return to it whenever you have time. You can also re-take a test following further revision if required. When you pass a test (with a score of 80% or higher), you will be able to print your credit certificate. (Please note that this is not the same as full AIRS Certification - although it is definitely helpful when preparing for the AIRS examination or in applying for Recertification).
