FRIENDS National Resource Center for Community-Based Child Abuse
Prevention's (CBCAP) Online Learning Center
FRIENDS National
Resource Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention, a service of
the Children's Bureau, is pleased to partner with Essential Learning to
provide this Online Learning Center offering you accessible continuing
education and professional development opportunities available 24 hours a
day.
FRIENDS has developed several courses relevant to community-based child
abuse prevention and our partner, Essential Learning, has an expansive
library of online courses for child welfare and human service professionals,
clinicians, supervisors, and managers. You can register for both FRIENDS
courses and Essential Learning courses through this site. New courses are
added frequently and members of the FRIENDS listserv will be routinely
informed of new course offerings. To join the listserv all you need to do
is send a blank email to: friendsnrc-subscribe@lists.friendsnrc.org and
your email address will be added.
Instructions for using the site:
| Step 1.

On the left hand column, there are buttons marked Select
an Accreditation and All Subjects.
- Many of the courses available meet the requirements of accreditation
for national or state organizations such as the Association of Social Work
Boards, National Board of Certified Counselors, American Psychological
Association and the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Counselors. Please click on the Select an Accreditation button on
the left hand side to select an Accreditation. If no accreditation is
necessary, the Generic Completion should be selected.
- In the All Subjects dropdown menu select
FRIENDS to view courses developed by FRIENDS or select
another subject to view the courses listed under that subject heading.
- Click on the Next button to view the course listings including
the costs. Clicking on a course name will give you details about the
course content.

Step 2.
|
If you would like to take a course, mark the checkbox in one
or more courses and then click the Add courses to cart button at
the bottom of the list.

Step 3.
|
Once all courses are selected you are ready to
Checkout. Clicking the Checkout button leads to the
registration page where you will register and pay for the course. Most
courses cost $10 per credit hour which can be paid with a credit card.

Step 4.
|
After completing registration you will be returned to the
training site. Click the Login tab along the top line and enter
the email address and password that you used during registration. This
will be your permanent login information so keep your password handy and
use it each time you take a subsequent course. You will then be taken to
a Thank You for Registering page.

You can now work your way through the course materials, including the
final online test. When you pass a test (with a score of 80% or higher),
you will be able to print your certificate of completion.

Started" button at the top of the screen or the "FAQ" button which will
give you helpful hints about using the site.
FRIENDS and Essential Learning will both be adding courses to our
libraries so check back with us often.

These courses are accredited for ANCC, ASWB and NBCC continuing education credit, as well as for certain individual state boards.
